10 Months

Gabe's 10 month landmark has come & gone!  It is hard to believe that last year at this time we were still getting ready for him to come...didn't even know he was a boy!  But he is definitely all boy.....all the time.  It is a rare occasion for this little man to be sitting still for very long.  Even in someone's lap he is playing with their hair, poking them in the eye or trying to stick his fingers in their mouth.  He now wiggles off of my lap when he wants down & is not afraid to try to stand anywhere.  I think he has smacked his head on everything in our house he possibly can because he just goes for it.  The other day I swear he hung from the window ledge by one hand for a couple of seconds before he got his feet under him properly.   He is so full of personality, letting you know if he is happy or mad or whatever.  He can be hard to get a smile out of sometimes, but once he gets going he is a real charmer!!  I am bracing for years of him trying to use that smile on me.  He has recently started to show more of a temper.  When he gets upset, he will scream REALLY loud & straighten out his arms & legs like he is super stiff.  I'm hoping he will get over this quickly & not get worse when he doesn't get his way.

He continues to be a good sleeper & eater for the most part.  He has been waking up in the middle of the night some, but usually goes right back to sleep after a little comfort.  I recently decided to stop nursing him in the middle of the night just to get him to fall back asleep quickly.  Now he gets picked up, comforted & laid back down.  There has been a little bit more crying but I don't want to run into more issues when we start weaning in a couple of months.

He is now eating solids a steady 4 times a day & nursing 4 times, so it sometimes feels like all we do is get ready to eat, eat & then clean up.  He loves fruit, cereal & yogurt.  Since he has his 3 teeth on the bottom, he likes to chomp things like Cheerios with those.  He is still fascinated by anything we eat & loves to share bites.  Last night I was eating some Wheat Thin crackers (which he can't have) & he proceeded to climb into my lap, try to take them out of my hand & even kissed me in an attempt to get a bite.  He constantly wants drinks out of our cups & stares at you if you eat something nearby.

Speaking of teeth, he is getting more!!  Two teeth on the top have come through & the third one appears to be on its way.  So far he has done fairly well with just a runny nose but not too much fussiness.  He has started to grind them against the bottom ones & has only bitten me a couple times while nursing.  I was really hoping he would be weaned by the time these teeth came in but I guess I'm just not that lucky!  :)  We are working on getting him to feed himself, but Gabe is in no rush.  He will push Cheerios around on his tray or throw them on the floor instead of eat them.  It's a little frustrating that he puts everything in his mouth besides food!!

All in all, Gabe is a busy little bee.  He is typically very good about entertaining himself as long as someone is nearby.  He will crawl around the kitchen floor while I do dishes & trails after me when I go to a different room.  He will play "catch" with a ball & really enjoys throwing his balls around the living room.  He also likes to play with his blocks & little cars.  Although one has to watch out when sitting nearby.  The other day he took a chunk out of my finger because he threw a block down & it bounced my way.   He is fascinated with our new cable box & gets into lots of trouble with David because he turns it on & off at will.  We have definitely learned to not leave anything lying around because it will get thoroughly inspected & played with! His favorite thing to do in his bedroom is pull all of his books off of his little bookshelf.  He recently discovered how fun it is to put things in a bag & then take them out.  He was very fascinated with the clear bag we put some of his blocks in.  He loved watching his hand inside the bag trying to catch a block.

Half smile.

Cheesing for the camera.

Gabe & all of his books.
