Back Again....

The last couple of months have been a little chaotic around the Dawson household.  We have been dealing with vacations & schedule changes & all of life's normal craziness.  In July, Gabriel & I went on our "Timm" vacation with Grandma & Grandpa Timm, all of my sisters & his three cousins Aubrey, Chloe & Coye.  It was a lot of fun to just have a break from work & to get to hang out with family.  I especially enjoyed the evenings after the kiddos went to sleep.  I actually got some real interaction with adults & got to spend some quality time with my sisters & parents.  I'm always impressed with how quickly Gabe adjusts to other people & how he enjoys other children.  He really thinks that he is a big kid & that he can follow them anywhere.  I also think it is good for him to be around Coye who is about the same age.  He may be smaller, but Gabe needs to learn how to share with someone his own size. :)  But alas, it was over too quickly & back to normal life we went.  (I managed to forget my camera at home so if you would like to see pictures, please visit my sister's blog The Wagners.)

For the last few months, David has been applying for jobs & going on interviews in an effort to find a job that wasn't third shift & would possibly be in a different field.  He has been limited because of his lack of a college degree & has wrestled with the idea of going back to school to complete his associates in Criminal Justice or maybe even going to technical school for something else entirely.  In August, he was offered a position as a security guard with a nationwide security company.  He was excited to switch jobs but also a little apprehensive about how everything would work & what his tasks might be.  As it turns out, he hated his first few days & decided that he would not be able to work there for long.  So, a week before classes were set to start, he decided to enroll in a local community college.  He has decided to try the program to be an automotive technician & is taking 4 automotive classes.  He is interest in this area & is excited about all of the hands on learning that they get to do.  We may even get some basic maintenance done for free!  He will still be able to work a few shifts a week at his old job, filling in for open shifts on an as needed basis.

So, needless to say, this change has impacted us all.  We decided that Gabe should go to the sitter all day Monday - Thursday so that David has time to study & so that Gabe has a more consistent schedule.  He enjoys being over there & has a great time with the other kids (ages 2-4) that are there all day.  David is working through his first week of classes & seems ok so far.  We are excited to see where this will take him & what kind of a career he can make out of this.
